Championship side Swansea City are reportedly in pole position to land Harry Wilson as Liverpool look to move him on before the end of the domestic transfer window.

According to Neil Jones, of GOAL, Swansea are the favourites to land Wilson ahead of a clutch of Championship sides with the window closing at 5 pm on Friday. This comes after Jurgen Klopp opted against including Wilson in his squad for the Champions League this season.

Derby are said to be one of the other clubs interested in signing him, with Swansea now looking to set to bring Wilson to Wales on loan. It is not stated whether it will be a loan until January or the end of the season.

Sending Wilson to Swansea could be a clever decision from Liverpool given the progress Rhian Brewster made at the Liberty last season. Liverpool gave Swansea Brewster for the second half of the 2019/20 campaign and the forward smashed in 11 goals in 21 starts for Steve Cooper’s team.

Brewster’s impressive form under Cooper’s management has perhaps shown Liverpool that they can trust him with their young players on loan going forward. Liverpool were able to sell Brewster for an eye-watering ¬£23.5m to Sheffield United this summer and this potential move for Wilson could prove to be similarly profitable for the Reds.

Wilson scored 16 goals in his last spell in the Championship, with Derby, which shows that he has the quality to be an outstanding player for Swansea on loan. If Cooper can get the best out of him, as he did with Brewster, then he could attract interest in the January window or next summer for a permanent exit from Anfield.
