Former Red Simon Mignolet believes that two of his Club Brugge teammates are better finishers than Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino.

Mignolet left Liverpool last summer to join Brugge, as he was replaced by free agent Adrian.

Having played alongside Hans Vanaken and Ruud Vormer while representing Brugge recently, Mignolet has come to the conclusion that both of his teammates are better finishers than Firmino.

“Both Hans and Ruud are very good finishers. Firmino and Mo [Salah] are of course incredible football players, but Firmino is not a born killer,” Mignolet told Het Laatste Niews.

“Hans and Ruud should certainly not be inferior to Bobby in terms of finishing.

“I even dare to say that Hans and Ruud on that are better than Roberto Firmino. And that they are of a comparable level to Mo.”

That is quite a bizarre conclusion to come to. Firmino’s role in the side isn’t to be the main source of goals. He offers much more than that.

Without Firmino, the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are far less effective. He has the ability to make the selfless runs that others won’t. Along with those runs, he links up play better than any of Jurgen Klopp’s forwards.

Despite those being his strengths, Firmino is still a proven player in front of goal. The Brazilian has scored 75 goals in 225 appearances for the Reds.
