Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip won’t play again this season, according to journalist James Pearce.

Matip featured in Liverpool’s clash against Everton at Goodison Park just over a week ago.

However, he was forced off the pitch with a foot injury. Matip did not play against Crystal Palace last week as a result.

That particular foot injury means that the Cameroon international will miss the rest of the season.

Matip is a loss in my opinion, but he can be covered. The 28-year-old has made 111 appearances for the Reds, which highlights that he is a senior figure at the club.

Matip is an experienced player, which means that he is someone you can rely on.

But, the one thing that does make me feel better about Matip’s injury is knowing that Joe Gomez is fit to play. The 23-year-old played well against Crystal Palace last weekend.

He finished the match with an overall player rating of 7.38. With that being the case, I believe Gomez is in some decent form. He should be able to cover Matip.
