James Pearce from The Athletic has stated that “senior Anfield sources insist” that it is unlikely that Liverpool will make any major signings this summer.

Pearce has stated that the senior Anfield sources have provided him with two reasons why Liverpool may not make any major signings in the upcoming transfer window.

The first reason is that the pandemic has had an impact on the club from a financial point of view. The second reason is that the club have no idea when the window will open or when next season will start.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It would be strange to see Liverpool make no major signings this summer, as they did very little business last summer also.

Before the 2019-20 season commenced, Liverpool spent only £1.3 million on transfers.

Pearce has not completely ruled out Liverpool signing anyone this summer, but from what he has been told, the Reds could spend very little again this summer.

This would not be ideal for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp in my opinion. With no major signings for potentially two consecutive summers, that means that Klopp can’t freshen things up.
