Mane, who has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side since 2016, has stated he is looking forward to playing his part in the tournament for his club.

“That [winning the Club World Cup] will be massive and really, really big for us personally as players, the club and the fans, which is a great thing for everyone, and we’re looking forward to it,” Mane told FIFA.

Mane also accepted that Liverpool will be coming up against some strong opposition, meaning he will take nothing for granted.

“I think all of those teams are very good, for sure, and that’s why they won the Champions League in different continents and it’s always exciting to play against the best teams in the world all the time,” Mane said.

“We know they’re going to be really tough games, but like I said, we expect this kind of game. We’ll take on the challenge positively and try to beat them.”

Liverpool have not featured in the tournament since 2005, which provides a bit of extra hype for the Merseyside club.

It will be interesting to see how Klopp’s side adapt to the warmer weather in Qatar. It isn’t ridiculously warm in Qatar right now, but as it is quite cool in the United Kingdom, the conditions will be somewhat foreign to Klopp’s players.

With Klopp taking his senior players to Qatar, there is a sense Liverpool are desperate to win the tournament.

However, Liverpool’s senior players have a clash on Saturday against Watford at Anfield in the Premier League to deal with first.
