Sadio Mane has never lost a game at Anfield since he joined the Reds in 2016 for £34million and this bodes well ahead of Manchester City’s trip to the hallowed Merseyside ground.
The Senegal attacker has played at Anfield 51 times and has won 41 games and drawn 10 at L4. Interestingly, one of those stalemates came while he was still a Southampton player.
Given that Mane has spent three years at Anfield, it’s hugely impressive that he has never tasted defeat in a home game and this will bode well ahead of Manchester City’s trip to Merseyside.
The titleholders will be desperate to win as they are currently six points behind the Reds and will go nine behind if they get beaten by Jurgen Klopp’s rampant side on Sunday.
Mane is easily the Reds’ best player on current form with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk not playing as well as they have in the last two years but given the enormity of Sunday’s task, they should rise to the occasion.
The former Saints forward has six goals and two assists in the Premier League this season and is clearly desperate to help his side win the title ahead of Manchester City after coming so close last season.
Mane’s form and fitness remain Liverpool’s greatest asset this season and with City’s defence currently obliterated by injuries, he will fancy his chances of grabbing a goal or two at the weekend.
