Roberto Firmino has opened up on what it is like to play under Jurgen Klopp, stating it to be a “joyful” experience.

Liverpool’s No.9 has flourished since the German arrived on Merseyside and has become an integral part of the Liverpool squad.

Klopp knew of Firmino before he accepted the managerial role at Anfield from his days in charge of Borussia Dortmund, as he came up against the Brazilian when he was playing for Hoffenheim.

With Klopp already knowing about the qualities Firmino possessed, the German becoming the Liverpool manager in 2015 turned out to be the best thing for the Brazilian, as he was not getting minutes on the pitch under Brendan Rodgers.

That changed very quickly with Klopp in charge, though.

“Playing for him is a really joyful experience. I love it, as do the rest of the team. We’ve learned so much from him since he arrived and we’ve only got better,” said Firmino, as reported by

“He is what you see in public: the passion, the father figure. And he’s also got ambition to win titles and give his best and, as players, we can only win with what we learn from him.

“I hope that we can achieve something soon but we are just starting out. There is a lot of football still to play.”
