Earlier this year, Liverpool were linked with a move for Sevilla goalkeeper Alfonso Pastor.

It was reported that Liverpool were looking to sign Pastor on a free transfer this summer. Pastor’s contract at the time was set to expire in July.

However, Pastor has recently signed a new long-term contract with Sevilla, as reported by Cordoba Deporte.

With that being the case, the 20-year-old will not be joining Liverpool this summer.

There is no denying that Pastor is a fine young talent. The footage below backs up that particular argument. Pastor appears to be a very good shot-stopper.

However, if Liverpool were genuinely interested in Pastor, they should not be too disappointed about missing out on the 20-year-old.

The reality is, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp already has a number of goalkeepers at his disposal (Alisson, Adrian, Caoimhin Kelleher and Marcelo Pitaluga).

With that being the case, there was no real need to sign Pastor this summer.

Liverpool have completed one signing this summer. Centre-back Ibrahima Konate has joined the club from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of £36 million.
