Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson will miss the remainder of the 2019-20 Premier League season.
Henderson was forced off the pitch against Brighton and Hove Albion last week with a knee injury.
That particular injury means that Henderson will not be available for selection until next season at the earliest.
“It’s not cool but it’s the best we could get,” Klopp said regarding Henderson’s injury, as quoted by the BBC.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Henderson being ruled out for the remainder of the Premier League season is not ideal.
Henderson is such a reliable figure in Klopp’s midfield. He rarely misses a game. The midfielder has made 30 appearances in the Premier League this season. The Reds have played 35 Premier League games this season.
But, Henderson’s injury is not the end of the world. Klopp did confirm that Henderson will still lift the Premier League title come the end of the season, which is obviously great news.
Henderson is the captain, which means that there is no one more fitting to lift the aforementioned trophy.
Henderson noted on Twitter that he will be aiming to be fit for the start of next season.
