Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester City are the best English side he has ever seen.

Pep Guardiola’s men went top of the table again after beating Cardiff 2-0 last night, a point above Liverpool.

And Redknapp thinks the Champions outclass any of the top sides he’s seen contest the Premier League title.

“We’re talking about one of the best sides in the world,” Redknapp said. “For me, the best side I’ve seen in the Premier League.

“I played against the Invincibles, we saw the United team that were fantastic. I just think this side are so good, total football.

“I watched them against Fulham at the weekend, they come at you from every angle. Every player on the field had a shot on goal, it’s total football. It’s like the Dutch in the ‘70s.

“They are a wonderful side to watch.”

Shaun Goater, a former Man City striker, also believes the current City side are quickly becoming the club’s best ever team.

“I think it is [the best City team ever],” Goater said. “In saying that, they’ve only got one trophy.

“Can they go on to win the league again? And then I think we would be saying yes, it’s the best team.”
