Pundit Danny Mills believes that ‘calmness’ is the greatest strength that Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson possesses.
Alisson, who joined Liverpool from Roma for a fee of £66.8 million in the summer of 2018, has been sensational for the Reds.
The Brazilian has played a key role in terms of Liverpool claiming the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup in the past six months.
Mills believes the goalkeeper has brought a ‘calmness’ to Liverpool’s defence, which is arguably rubbing off on the players around him.
Mills told Football Insider: “I’ll tell you what it is, Alisson is an exceptional goalkeeper but he doesn’t do drama very often. He’s in the right place at the right time to make what looks like a comfortable save.
“You very rarely see him have to make those incredible saves because he’s out of position or the defence have let him down. His angles are exceptional at times, his distances, he knows where he is.
“Alisson is calmness personified.”
Mills is correct in regards to everything he has said. Alisson rarely makes mistakes, and that is because he understands his game very well.
A sign of a top goalkeeper is the one that does not need to make the brilliant saves on a consistent basis. As a supporter, Alisson never leaves you feeling concerned. What also helps is that Alisson plays with a very good defence in front of him.
