Reds striker Divock Origi has stated that he wants to remain at Liverpool beyond this season.

In a recent interview with Het Laatste Nieuw, the Belgian international revealed that he has “spoken with Liverpool”, as he wants to remain at the club.

Origi believes that he has improved as a player under Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, and he believes that he can continue to improve under the guidance of the German.

“I am a better player than last year,” Origi told Het Laatste Nieuw.

“Klopp has given me the space to develop myself. I always listen to my instinct and continue to work.

“We have spoken with Liverpool and we have a nice course ahead of us. I just want to get better here.

“It is a project for me and I want to follow it. I don’t know how long I will do that. I feel that I am making progress, so it was a pity that the season stopped.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Origi’s current market value is €16 million, which means that there is no real point in selling him.

Liverpool would want more for Origi than the aforementioned sum, as he is a player that has scored in a Champions League final. He deserves to be valued much higher.

It is clear that Klopp likes Origi as a player. The German has stated in the past that the Belgian is a very important player in the Liverpool squad.

With that being the case, it is difficult to see Klopp wanting to sell him anytime soon. The striker is still only 25 years old, which means that his career is far from over.

I expect Origi to stay at Liverpool beyond this season due to the aforementioned reasons.
