Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri have returned to Liverpool to begin pre-season preparations with their teammates, according to LiverpoolFC.com.
The official website notes that both players, who proved pivotal in Liverpool’s run to the Champions League final and eventual victory, are set to report to the club’s West Derby base to undergo tests.
Shaqiri picked up a calf injury while on international duty for Switzerland in a Nations League match against England on June 9.
The winger will be assessed by the club’s medical staff, who will draw up an appropriate training schedule as he looks to regain fitness ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Origi, who scored the goal that helped seal the Champions League win for Liverpool on June 1, has been on holiday and is expected to put pen to paper on a new Reds deal soon.
Liverpool’s pre-season preparations began in earnest on Saturday, with the first warm-up fixture against Tranmere set to take place on Thursday.
