Simon Mignolet’s agent says the goalkeeper still wants to leave Liverpool this summer, despite recent suggestions by Jurgen Klopp that he’d remain at Anfield.
The Belgian spent the whole of last season as Alisson Becker’s deputy, making just two appearances in cup competitions.
And Mignolet’s agent Nico Vaesen has reportedly claimed his client still intends to leave the European Champions this summer.
“It’s important for Simon to play somewhere, and our goal is still to make him leave.
“He’s still got a lot to offer, and if we have an offer, we’re counting on Liverpool making an effort.”
This follows on the back of Klopp’s apparent confirmation recently that the 31-year-old would remain at Anfield this summer.
“I’ve had a lot of conversations with him in the last couple of years,” the manager said.
“Not weeks but months, before we left (for the summer break) we had a talk. Will he stay? I would say yes.”
If Mignolet were to leave, Liverpool would be forced to accelerate any plans to recruit a new backup goalkeeper before the end of the transfer window next month.
