Former Red Michael Owen has given his prediction for Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Ajax.

Owen believes that the match at the Amsterdam ArenA “should be a cracker”.

Owen is under the impression that the aforementioned match will be a close one, but he is backing Liverpool in to win.

Owen said that Liverpool will have too much in attack for Ajax.

Owen told BetVictor: It’s a clash between two Champions League heavyweights when Ajax entertain Liverpool in Amsterdam.

“This should be a cracker. Liverpool were unlucky not to snatch the points on Saturday, and although I think it will be close, I can see the Reds having too much firepower for the home side.”

Liverpool have played in two Champions League finals in the past three years. Ajax have not played in a Champions League final since 1996.

In 2019, Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in Madrid to claim their sixth European Cup.

Jurgen Klopp’s side possess invaluable experience, as they understand what it takes to win the tournament.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Ajax, is in charge of a team that does not have such experience. That could potentially show in match between the two aforementioned sides tonight.

In saying that, Ajax did get to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019, so they are a decent side, which means that they could cause Liverpool some problems.

However, because of Liverpool’s experience within the Champions League under Klopp, we are backing the Reds in to claim a victory.

Therefore, we agree with what Owen has said about the tonight’s clash.
