Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has lavished praise on midfielder Thiago after the Spaniard helped guide the Reds past a stubborn Aston Villa side that was full of their youngsters.
The Reds were obviously expected to win the game last night at Villa Park but the young men in claret and blue made it tough, with the scores level at half-time.
At the start of the second half, then, Thiago was introduced and he, alongside the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, helped make a real difference to help the Reds win 4-1.
And, speaking to BT Sport, and quoted by the Metro, Owen suggested that there’s no-one like Thiago in the Premier League currently.
“There is nobody in the Premier League like Thiago. He makes me want to watch football 24/7.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
It’s certainly easy to agree with Owen here.
Of course, the Reds were playing a bunch of kids so you can’t get too excited but Thiago again showed his class and the sort of football he is going to bring to the Reds.
He’s beginning to get more minutes under his belt and the hope will be he plays a crucial part against Manchester United next weekend.
