Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has questioned if Liverpool forward Divock Origi can be trusted to play 20 games in the Premier League next season.

Richards was giving his opinion on who he thinks will win the Premier League title next season. Richards believes that the Citizens are the favourites because of the squad depth that they possess.

Richards used Origi as an example when it came to discussing Liverpool’s squad depth. Richards suggested that Origi can’t be trusted to play regularly for Liverpool in the Premier League next season.

By using Origi as an example, Richards was basically implying that Liverpool don’t have the squad depth to compete with Manchester City next season.

“Origi has scored some very important goals, but would you trust him for 20 games at season? That’s why Manchester City are favourites, because of their squad,” Richards told Sky Sports.

His comments can be heard on the video provided by Football Daily (00:30).

Last season, Origi made 21 Premier League appearances, but he only started seven of those games.

Origi scored four goals in the Premier League last season, which is not a bad return when you consider that he only started in seven games.

When you’re not starting matches, you ultimately have less time to make an impact.

But, Origi did play more than 20 matches in the Premier League last season, which shows that he can be trusted.

The Reds ultimately won the Premier League title last season with Origi as a squad player. Liverpool have shown that it can be done.
