Back in October 2020, Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk suffered a serious knee injury during the Merseyside derby.

The Dutchman has not played in a competitive football match since the clash at Goodison Park.

Earlier this month, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said that Van Dijk returning this season would be unlikely.

Liverpool faced off against Everton at Anfield last Saturday, and the Dutchman was in attendance.

Pundit Andy Gray was watching Van Dijk move around in the stands. Gray said that Van Dijk was moving around quite freely.

With that being the case, Gray believes that the centre-back could return for Liverpool before the end of the season.

Gray told beIN Sports (20/02/21 at 5:30 pm): “He looked certainly mobile. And maybe we will get a surprise.

“Maybe the big man will make an appearance before the end of the season. He certainly bounced up the stairs of that stand quite comfortably.”

It would be nice to see Van Dijk playing for the Reds before the season is up.

Van Dijk has a current market value of €80 million, which highlights that he is a superb player.

However, we don’t want the Dutchman to return underdone. The last thing that we would want to see is Van Dijk return too early and cause more damage to his knee.

But, if the medical staff state that Van Dijk is 100 percent fit, then we are open to seeing him play for Liverpool again this season.
