A new football season means of course new Match Attax cards and we were lucky enough to get a sneak peak at some of The Red’s squad’s stats as Jurgen Klopp prepares for another assault on silverware.
With the buzz around the start of the new season and the transfer window slamming shut, fans can now build their winning XI with over 400 cards to choose from. Each manager has a budget of £100m to build their team of superstars and after months of in-depth scouting the ratings for both attack and defence have been confirmed.
The Reds’ look stronger than ever after finishing the season on 97 points, just one behind eventual champions Manchester City and losing once all year. Despite making no new signings over the summer, the resurgence of England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Attack: 76, Defence: 60, Value:£7m) after a long injury lay off will be a huge boost to Klopp’s side.
At the back, towering Dutchman Virgil Van Dijk (Attack: 44, Defence: 90, Value:£10m) has to be one of the first names on any manager’s team sheet after an astonishing 65-game period of no dribbles past him by an opposition player. The 28-year-old also has the unbelievable double record of having the best duel success ratio (77%) of those who have competed in 100+ duels, and the best aerial duel success ratio (76.2%) of those to have competed in 150+ aerial duels.
We scored more than 80 goals last season with the deadly trio of Mo Salah (Attack: 89, Defence: 49, Value: £12m), Robert Firmino and Sadio Mane notching over 54 of them. PFA Players’ Player 2018 Salah finished joint top goal-scorer in the league last year on 22 whilst the Egyptian managed to lay on a further 10 for his Anfield teammates.
You have the chance to find your inner Jurgen Klopp when the cards are released later this week available in all good newsagents and online from www.toppsdirect.com.
