Loris Karius deserves a second chance at Liverpool after the costly mistakes he made in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, according to Bruce Grobbelaar.

Grobbelaar told BBC Sport: “They gave me two years of second chances, so why can’t they give him a second chance after one game?”

Grobbelaar, who won the European Cup with Liverpool in 1984, also added: “They should keep him in the spotlight from next season.”

“First game back, get him back as soon as possible.”

Grobbelaar believes Liverpool are close to silverware under Jurgen Klopp, and strengthening before next season will be key to getting over the line this time.

“Liverpool can win the Champions League next year but need two more players to add to the squad,” said Grobbelaar.

“They need a centre-half and a striker.”
