Liverpool are open to the possibility of offloading defensive veteran Ragnar Klavan before the end of the month, according to reports.
Klavan has made more than 50 appearances for the club since he joined from Augsburg in the summer of 2016, but now finds himself competing with Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and promising youngster Nat Phillips for a centre-back spot.
Newcastle made a Deadline Day move for the Estonian, but negotiations reportedly hit a brick wall with the Reds reluctant to sell.
However, according to the Echo‘s James Pearce, Jurgen Klopp has accepted that Klavan may be eager for more opportunities than he can offer this season.
A return to the Bundesliga before the German transfer window closes at the end of the month is a possibility, he says.
Goal‘s Neil Jones adds that Divock Origi could also leave in the coming weeks, but only if a suitable offer is received.
Jones reports that Simon Mignolet, Lazar Markovic, Pedro Chirivella and Sheyi Ojo are likely to move, but the club would prefer to keep hold of midfielder Marko Grujic.
