Liverpool are reportedly preparing to spend ‘millions’ on Fiorentina centre-forward Dusan Vlahovic in the summer transfer window.
The report claims Liverpool have been ‘seduced’ by Vlahovic’s performances in the Serie A this season and are ready to compete for his signature.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
With Divock Origi reportedly being one of the players Liverpool would like to ship out of the door this summer, the club could be in the market for a new forward. If Origi leaves Liverpool it could open up a place on the bench for another player to come in and attempt to provide value off the bench or in rotation – in domestic cup matches or in Europe for example.
Vlahovic is enjoying a stellar season with Fiorentina in the Serie A. He has managed 13 goals and two assists in 25 starts for the club, whilst also scoring twice in two starts for his country this season. This shows that he has been in good form in front of goal, which suggests that he could add an additional goal threat off the bench for Liverpool if they bring him to the club.
He is also four years younger than Origi, which means that Vlahovic could offer Liverpool more long-term value than the Belgian. No price tag has been mentioned for the Serbian international striker, so it is hard to tell whether or not he would be worth the investment in comparison to Origi without knowing how much Liverpool would need to pay. Although, the report does claim that they are willing to spend ‘millions’, suggesting that the Reds could be open to spending a decent chunk of change on Vlahovic.
