Liverpool are interested in Sampdoria centre-back Omar Colley, according to SampNews24.
Colley reportedly has a £10.8 million release clause. Colley has played football in Italy, Finland, Sweden, Belgium and Gambia.
At the time of writing, Kostas Tsimikas has been Liverpool’s only major signing this summer.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Colley, 27, has a current market value of €5 million. With that being the case, if Liverpool were to activate Colley’s release clause, the club would be paying over the odds for the centre-back.
Despite that being the case, we believe that Colley would still prove to be a decent signing for £10.8 million.
In terms of what Colley could bring to Anfield, it is hard to comment as we have not seen much of the centre-back.
However, according to WhoScored.com, Colley is a centre-back that is good in the air and has the ability to intercept opposition passes.
With the Premier League known for its physicality, being strong aerially is a trait a centre-back needs. Also, if teams are passing the ball well, it would be nice to have a centre-back that could intercept and break up play.
Going by Colley’s reported strengths, he is made for the Premier League.
Colley has also made 52 appearances in the Serie A, which highlights that he does have some experience in a good division of football.
