Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip are set to return to Liverpool’s starting XI against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night, according to journalist Chris Bascombe.

The aforementioned news was relayed by Twitter user @Watch_LFC.

Henderson missed Liverpool’s recent FA Cup clash against Manchester United as a result of a muscle strain.

Matip on the other hand was rested against the Red Devils.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Liverpool could certainly do with Henderson and Matip playing against Spurs in North London on Thursday night.

It is a huge game for the club. Liverpool have not won a Premier League fixture since the 19th of December 2020.

Spurs are a decent side, so it won’t be an easy game for Liverpool. Liverpool sit in fifth-place on the Premier League table, and Spurs sit in sixth-place.

Henderson is the captain of the side, which provides an insight into how important he is to the team.

Matip on the other hand is Liverpool’s only fit senior centre-back. Having both Henderson and Matip back should definitely give Liverpool a better chance of defeating Tottenham.
