Liverpool scouts were reportedly impressed by Benfica’s David Tavares recently, according to O Jogo, cited by Teamtalk.

The Reds played Benfica’s B squad as part of their preparations for the Champions League final towards the end of May.

Jurgen Klopp’s scouts reportedly took notice of young Tavares, whose physicality and aggressiveness stood out among the other Benfica starlets.

The 20-year-old put in several crunching tackles during the Marbella friendly, in which Sadio Mane, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones all scored.

Tavares, who stands at 6’2″ tall, is an attacking midfielder who can also play in a holding role or on the left wing.

His current Benfica contract ties him down until 2023, but any approach from Liverpool would certainly be cause for consideration.
