Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum could feature in Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Salzburg, according to Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds must avoid defeat away from home if they wish to progress to the knockout rounds.

Liverpool had the opportunity to secure a place in the knockout rounds when Napoli came to town two weeks ago. The Reds needed to win, but they could only secure a 1-1 draw.

Jurgen Klopp has had to deal with a few injuries of late, with Dejan Lovren being the latest causality.

The centre-back was withdrawn before half-time against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday due to a niggle. However, he did train on Monday, which is a sign his injury is/was minor.

Also, Wijnaldum is reportedly in the mix to play in Austria tomorrow night. Midfielder Adam Lallana could also feature in one way or another. Both were absent for Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over the Cherries on the weekend.

“The only players who are maybe back for Tuesday are Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana,” said Klopp in his post-match press conference on Saturday.

Given how strong the Reds are in Europe, going out of the competition early would be a huge disappointment. However, there is no denying that both Wijnaldum and Lallana would strengthen Liverpool’s chances of progressing.
