Arsenal and Chelsea have overtaken Liverpool as the most in-demand replica shirt providers in the country.
As reported by The Liverpool Echo, both Arsenal and Chelsea have seen their sales increase exponentially this summer, knocking Liverpool off their perch.
Liverpool’s kits were the highest-selling ones in England up until this summer. The report, however, claims that sales are down by 12% on the home shirt this year, with Chelsea’s sales rising an incredible 84%.
This comes after Liverpool made the decision to switch from New Balance to Nike as their kit manufacturers at the end of the 2019/20 campaign. Liverpool won a High Court Case back in October 2019 to be able to make the move.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
The drop off in sales could be because of a myriad of reasons. Firstly, the switch from New Balance to Nike may have put some people off, depending on their preference in kit provider.
Finances could also be another reason behind the lack of sales after the UK recorded the highest number of job losses in a quarter since 2009 earlier this year. This means that some families may not be able to afford to purchase a kit this season, in comparison to previous years.
Or it could just be an anomaly and the sales may rise as the year progresses and Liverpool could be back on top next summer, it remains to be seen. Hopefully, they are able to reclaim their spot at the top and move back ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal to be the most popular kit providers in the country.
