Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol believes the Reds should push through a move for Bruno Fernandes this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a move for the Portuguese international in recent weeks, with other reports suggesting the Reds are first in line for his signature.

And Nicol thinks the midfielder, who scored 28 goals for Sporting Lisbon last season, could be a “hit” at Anfield.

“I think this would be a decent signing for Liverpool. He would play in the middle of the park,” Nicol told ESPN FC.

“Bruno Fernandes can add to that. Yes, he will get it back but I think he has a little bit more quality in the final third than what they have right now.  I think he would be a good addition.

“Liverpool need to get a bigger squad and a bigger squad so that they can give people a break without the standard dropping. I think this could be a hit, I think this could be a good signing.”
