Jose Enrique has labelled Andy Robertson as an ‘unbelievable’ and ‘amazing player’ despite missing out on a spot in the FIFA World XI.
The Scotsman was snubbed in favour of Marcelo despite Real Madrid’s awful 2018/19 season while Robertson helped Liverpool win the Champions League and set a club record tally of 97 Premier League points.
The left-back has been sublime this season and even scored a fantastic goal against RB Salzburg by starting play deep inside his own half before bombarding into the box and brilliantly finishing a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross.
Jose Enrique is spot on by saying that the former Dundee United fullback is the best left-back in the world as there isn’t anyone that currently comes near our Robbo.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Enrique said: “He is unbelievable. I’ve said it before, for me, last year he was the best left-back in the world.
“I know that was given to Marcelo but that was not fair in my opinion. Not just because Liverpool won the Champions League but because he has been an amazing player for Liverpool.
“He gives so much to that side. And him and Mane together [on Liverpool’s left] – I wouldn’t want to be on the right side for the other team.”
