Naby Keita wants to stay beyond this summer and continue to fight for a place in the team, that is the line from James Pearce over the midfielder’s future at Liverpool.
The Reds signed the midfielder for big money a few seasons ago but have only really seen flashes of what he can do.
Indeed, he has been hampered big time by injuries throughout his stay on Merseyside with a number of midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.
However, despite that, he does not want to leave the club any time soon and wants to instead fight for his place past this summer, according to James Pearce for The Athletic.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Keita is a decent player and certainly one that could still have a future at Liverpool but he really needs to be more consistent and reliable when it comes to fitness.
Injuries happen, of course, and sometimes you cannot help that but it is getting to a stage where you’re wondering if he’s ever going to be a regularly available player for Liverpool.
That’s something the Reds need to weigh up.
