Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has stated that centre-back Dejan Lovren has returned to training this week.
Lovren suffered a muscle injury against Salzburg in the Champions League on December 10 2019, and he has not been fit enough to play football since. However, on Monday, the Croatian international returned to training.
The bad news is Liverpool will be without James Milner, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita for tonight’s Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium due to their respective knocks.
The Reds enter the clash with a 13-point lead at the top of the table with two games in hand.
“Dejan trained now since the start of the week, Monday,” Klopp told his pre-match press conference. “So, [it’s his] first steps out on the pitch, it’s good.
“Millie is not in team training, Naby is not in team training and Shaq is not in team training.
“They are all back soon.”
This will be a tough game for Liverpool tonight. One could argue that tonight’s clash could be Liverpool’s toughest Premier League game of the season.
Wolves have already defeated Manchester City twice this season. With Liverpool heading into the clash without some handy squad players, there is a heavy reliance on the first XI to get the job done.
However, this Liverpool side have not given anyone a reason to doubt them.
