Philadelphia Union midfielder Brenden Aaronson has stated that he is a “big Liverpool fan”.

The 19-year-old also said that he was a fan of former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard when he was a kid.

Aaronson told ESPN FC (25:43): “I liked Steven Gerrard when I was little — I’m a big Liverpool fan.”

There has been no news suggesting that Liverpool are currently interested in Aaronson.

However, it is nice to hear that a youngster does admire the club.

If Aaronson can eventually get to a point where is he is good enough to play for the Reds, then who knows, maybe he will get to play for the club that he supports.

Aaronson has scored four goals and registered three assists in 37 appearances for Philadelphia Union.

Aaronson has also made one appearance for the United States. The fact that he has represented his country does highlight that he does have ability.

Aaronson has been linked with a move to Celtic recently. If he can secure a move to Scotland and perform, he might catch the attention of Liverpool.

Celtic are a big club, which can be backed up by the fact that they have won the Scottish Premiership 51 times. With that being the case, it would be fair to assume that clubs within England take notice of Celtic’s players.

To back that statement up, Virgil van Dijk, who is now Liverpool’s centre-back, secured a move from Celtic to Southampton in 2015.
