Former Schalke attacker Donis Avdijaj has stated that he had a “mega offer” from Liverpool.

Avdijaj spent seven years with Schalke, having joined the club in 2011. He eventually left the Bundesliga club in 2018.

Avdijaj eventually ended up at Hearts further down the line. However, his time at the club has come to an end, and he is now a free agent.

Avdijaj has been reflecting on his career recently. He stated that before he signed a long-term deal with Schalke, he had a big offer from the Reds.

Avdijaj ultimately regrets not making the move to Anfield.

Avdijaj has told Sport1: “My biggest mistake, which I bitterly regret, was when I turned down a mega offer from Liverpool before I signed the long-term contract with Schalke, which were a club close to my heart. I also had an offer from Real Madrid.”

Avdijaj might be regretting his decision, but I don’t think Liverpool will be too concerned that he turned down the club.

The 23-year-old is currently without a club, which does suggest that he has not performed in recent times.

Liverpool possess a front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. They have scored 40 goals between them in the Premier League this season.

With that being the case, I don’t think the club have missed out on Avdijaj. He did not score a single goal for Hearts during his time at the club, which further shows that he is a player currently struggling.
