“I read what was said" - Mohamed Salah opens up on Barcelona link

It has recently been reported that Barcelona are interested in signing Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah.

With that being the case, the Egyptian international was asked about the aforementioned rumour.

Salah said that he is happy to be linked with a team like Barcelona. However, the 29-year-old made it clear that he is happy representing Liverpool.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Salah told MBC the following: “I read what was said about Xavi’s interest to sign me. This is something that makes me happy that a team like Barcelona is interested in me, but I’m happy in Liverpool and we will see what happens in the future.

“At the moment, I prefer to stay in the Premier League as it’s the strongest league in the world."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We are delighted to hear that Salah is happy at Anfield, as he is a world-class winger after all.

Salah has scored 144 goals and registered 55 assists in 223 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

The Egyptian international's form this season has also been exceptional. Salah has averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.96 in all competitions.

Therefore, it would be heartbreaking to see the 29-year-old depart the club anytime soon. But, going by Salah's comments, he is settled at Liverpool.

The forward's current deal expires in the summer of 2023. Salah would reportedly like to sign a new deal at Anfield.

Therefore, hopefully both parties can reach an agreement.
