Former Red Stephen Warnock has defended the owners of Liverpool Football Club – Fenway Sports Group.

Warnock has stated that he has recently read plenty of content which has been critical of FSG.

Warnock suggested that he has seen plenty of people criticise FSG about the fact that they have not given Reds boss Jurgen Klopp the funds to sign a centre-back this month.

Liverpool are currently without centre-backs Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk as they are both injured.

Despite Liverpool’s current situation, Warnock defended FSG by reminding people that the pandemic has impacted Liverpool financially.

Warnock was basically suggesting that the club does not have the funds to purchase a centre-back this month.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We agree with Warnock. It has been reported that the pandemic has impacted Liverpool Football Club financially. We believe that Liverpool do need a centre-back.

But, if the money is not available to sign a centre-back this month, then those associated with the club just have to accept that.

The reality is, Liverpool have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title with FSG as the owners of the club.

Liverpool have won plenty of silverware under FSG. Therefore, the Americans don’t deserve too much criticism.

You don’t win the aforementioned trophies if the owners aren’t on the same page as the manager for the most part.
