Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has suggested that he is prepared to fight for his future at the club.

Karius has been on loan at Besiktas for the past two seasons. However, he is now a Liverpool player again.

With that being the case, Karius believes that he can “accelerate in training at Liverpool”. Karius also stated that second-choice goalkeepers get good opportunity in England.

It does sound as if Karius is prepared to remain at Anfield and fight for his future.

Speaking to Transfermarkt, Karius said: “Of course I have to play if I am going to change clubs. It makes no sense to say: ‘I’m leaving Liverpool for a worse club and I’m only number two there’.

“But I’m not in a pressure situation at all, I don’t have to change.

“I can accelerate in training at Liverpool. As the second-choice goalkeeper in England you know that you get your chances.

“I am currently at the best club in the world, play for titles, have the highest level around me every day in training. I am fully aware that I am in a good position to be in Liverpool. I have great conditions there.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

I appreciate that Karius does admire the club. It shows that he does want to do well at Liverpool.

Karius’ aforementioned comments do suggest that he is keen to fight for his future at Liverpool. However, I feel his time at the club has passed.

As Alisson is the No.1 goalkeeper at the club, Karius will certainly be a second-choice option at best.

However, Adrian, who is Liverpool’s current second-choice goalkeeper, did recently state that he would like to remain at the club next season.

There really is no room for Karius anymore. With that being the case, a permanent move away from Anfield might be the best thing for his career.
