PSG forward Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to turn down the chance to sign a new contract with the French club as he considers a move to Real Madrid or Liverpool next summer.

According to French outlet Le Parisien, Mbappe does not want to extend his current deal with PSG, which is due to expire in the summer of 2022.

The report claims that both Real Madrid and Liverpool are interested in signing Mbappe next summer as they both fight to land the French international forward.

This could be a gigantic boost in Liverpool’s efforts to bring Mbappe to England as it could force PSG’s hand into allowing him to leave next summer. Mbappe would only have one year left on his contract and PSG would be risking him leaving on a free the following January on a pre-contract deal if they opt against cashing in on him.

Liverpool could take advantage of the situation and come in with a bid to tempt PSG into selling, before Real can go in and make their offer. If both clubs agree deals with PSG then it could come down to the player to decide whether he wants to be playing his football in England or Spain going forward, with the article giving no indication either way regarding his thoughts on a future club.

Mbappe is a special talent and his record since signing for PSG proves that. He has played 126 competitive games for PSG and racked up a phenomenal 94 goals and 56 assists for the French outfit, whilst also scoring 14 goals in 36 games for his country. This shows that he could be an excellent addition to Liverpool’s side if they are able to bring him in.
