Liverpool signed Alisson for £65million last summer and Coutinho helped convince him to join the Reds.
The Reds were in desperate need of a new goalkeeper after the disastrous Champions League final where Loris Karius was unfortunate enough to fumble twice to allow Real Madrid to claim their third successive European crown.
Mohamed Salah was forced off the pitch early and many cursed the fact that Philippe Coutinho chose to desert in January but the Brazilian helped his former side sign Alisson Becker and in doing so gave them the key to challenging for top honours.
Writing for Joe.co.uk, Melissa Reddy reveals Coutinho’s role in getting Alisson to Anfield after he moved to Barcelona for £142million.
She writes: “Michael Edwards had been tireless in ensuring Liverpool were not just part of the conversation to land Brazil’s No.1, but that they were directing it.
“The sporting director put in the work with Roma’s hierarchy, while Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho – the latter having departed for Barcelona – extended Liverpool’s sales pitch during international duty.”
