Former Germany midfielder Lothar Matthaus believes that Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara would fit into Jurgen Klopp’s team.

The Reds have recently been linked with a summer move for Thiago. With that being the case, Matthaus has given his opinion on the potential transfer.

Matthaus is pretty sure that Thiago is ready to depart Bayern Munich. He also added that Thiago would be able to play in Klopp’s XI.

“With Thiago, I’m pretty sure the signs are goodbye,” Matthaus told Sportbuzzer. “What other reason would he have for not yet accepting Bayern’s offer?

“Liverpool are obviously very fond of him and he would absolutely fit into Jurgen Klopp’s team.”

The biggest concern I have about Liverpool potentially signing Thiago is that he does not have a great injury record.

Since the 2017-18 season, Thiago has suffered 13 different injuries. That ultimately highlights that he is injury-prone.

Klopp has stated in the past that he likes his teams to play a “heavy metal” brand of football.

With Thiago’s injury record being what it is over the past few years, I’m not sure he would be able to consistently play in a team that plays “heavy metal” football.

That could be a potential problem if Liverpool were to sign the midfielder. If the rumours regarding Liverpool being interested in Thiago are true, hopefully the club do consider his recent injury record.
