Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire has given his thoughts on Liverpool’s squad.

Manchester United are having a better season than Liverpool. The Red Devils sit in second-place on the Premier League table. Liverpool on the other hand sit in seventh-place.

Despite that being the case, Maguire believes that Liverpool possess plenty of quality players. Maguire also added that Liverpool possess a quality manager in Jurgen Klopp.

Maguire told ESPN FC (02:45): “They are a top team.

“They are the champions and had a great season last season. But they have top players all over the pitch.”

Maguire added (03:13): “We have closed that gap [on Liverpool in the Premier League]. But I’m still sure they are a top team, with top players and a top manager.”

Maguire is spot on. Yes, Liverpool have had a poor season. However, in the past three years, Liverpool have won four major trophies, which highlights that the club does possess some quality players.

Maguire has clearly not forgotten that Klopp’s side has been dominant in recent years. Therefore, one bad season should not define Klopp’s team.

Liverpool have been unlucky with injuries this season, which has no doubt impacted performance. Key players have missed important matches.

Liverpool have been without first-team players such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip for the majority of the season.
