Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has insisted that Liverpool are the best team in the land despite the events that have occurred recently.
Since the Premier League winter break, Liverpool have lost three games out of five across all competitions. In those five matches, the Reds have conceded eight goals.
Liverpool’s poor run of form continued against Lampard’s Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday night. The Reds left Stamford Bridge with a 2-0 defeat due to goals scored by Willian and Ross Barkley.
However, Lampard still believes that his side defeated the best team in the land.
“Liverpool are the best team in the land. What they are doing in the league is incredible, so to win tonight was amazing,” Lampard said, as quoted by Rousing The Kop.
Lampard is obviously spot on with his comments, but it was still nice of a rival manager to accept that the Reds are the best team in the land. It was a special victory for his side because of that exact reason.
Form is very much temporary. Jurgen Klopp’s side will come out of this rough patch in a better place.
Many believed that the Premier League winter break would do the players some good, but it appears to have interfered with Liverpool’s rhythm. Momentum is a funny thing in sport.
