Real Madrid are reportedly ready to pay Liverpool €210million for Mohamed Salah if they fail to win any silverware this season.
The Reds won the Champions League last season, capping off an unbelievable year and Don Balon believes that if they don’t win it again or top the Premier League charts at the end of the season, Salah will want to leave the club.
Just for a second, let’s pretend that this historically inaccurate Spanish outlet has any kind of insider knowledge of the goings-on behind the scenes at Liverpool when even local journalists seem to have little reach these days, would it make sense for the Reds to sell Salah?
While some would argue that selling a player that wants out for €210m (£187.6m) is hardly bad business, there isn’t another player in Europe that is available for Liverpool to sign that would immediately replace the goals and assists that Salah provides.
Kylian Mbappe is the only player who fits the club’s transfer target profile and is able to score the kind of goals Salah does on a regular basis but after signing him for £166million in 2017, PSG aren’t going to let him go for anywhere under the £200m mark.
Selling Salah shouldn’t be on any fan’s mind especially at this stage of the 2019/20 season with the Reds only having played four Premier League games especially because the Egyptian looks hungry for goals.
Ultimately, discussing this off the back of a report from Don Balon seems silly given their incredibly poor track record of getting transfer stories right.
