Former Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren has given his thoughts on the club’s 7-2 loss to Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Lovren said on Twitter that one or two players should be not be blamed for Liverpool’s loss in the Premier League.

Lovren added that the 11 players on the pitch come together as a team.

Lovren also suggested that anyone associated with the club needs to “move on” from the defeat to Aston Villa.

Lovren departed the club for Zenit Saint Petersburg back in August, so he clearly still has an affinity with the current Liverpool players.

With that being the case, we can understand why he wants to defend his former teammates. But, the reality is, Liverpool conceded seven goals, which means that some individuals deserve to cop some criticism.

The back four and the goalkeeper are paid to keep clean sheets. Players need to be held accountable when seven goals are conceded.

Liverpool are the champions of England, so it would be fair to assume that a performance like the one at Villa Park will not be accepted by the coaching staff or the Anfield faithful.
