Borussia Monchengladbach are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic before the end of the transfer window next month.
According to the Daily Mail, the Bundesliga outfit are interested in signing the Serbian midfielder – who has not played a minute of Premier League football this season.
The report claims that Liverpool are expecting to sell some of their fringe players before the deadline, with Grujic potentially being one of them. Grujic scored in Liverpool’s 7-2 victory over Lincoln, but it could end up being one of his last appearances for the club.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
If Liverpool want to raise funds through sales, then moving Grujic on could be a good business decision by the club. He is a valuable asset, given that he is only 24 and started 49 Bundesliga games in the past two seasons, and could recoup the club a decent chunk of change.
Liverpool have plenty of options in central midfield and can afford to let him leave if Monchengladbach come in with a respectable offer. All parties could win in this scenario, with Liverpool getting money and Grujic being given the chance to go and play regular football in the top-flight if he can break into Monchengladbach’s XI in Germany.
Hopefully, Grujic can go and forge a successful career for himself if he does leave the Reds. He is just a victim of circumstance at Anfield, with the likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Gini Wijnladum ahead of him.
