Barcelona admire Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, according to Neil Jones from Goal.
Jones has stated that Wijnaldum will have no shortage of options if he does decide to leave Liverpool next summer on a free transfer.
The journalist also names Juventus and Bayern Munich as teams that could potentially have an interest in the Dutchman, and that is simply because of the success that both clubs have had with free transfers in recent years.
“What the future holds remains to be seen. Certainly Wijnaldum, who will turn 30 in November, would have no shortage of suitors should he decide to end his stay on Merseyside next summer,” Jones told Goal.
“Barcelona are admirers, while both Juventus and Bayern Munich have had success with free transfers in recent years.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
If Barcelona admire Wijnaldum, it does highlight just how well the Dutchman has been traveling at Liverpool.
Barcelona are ultimately a club that has won the European Cup five times. That means they are not going to be looking to sign average players.
With that being the case, Liverpool should be doing everything they can to get Wijnaldum to sign a new deal.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, talks between the club and Wijnaldum’s representatives are going well. That is obviously a good sign.
