Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn is currently on international duty with the Scotland national team.

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson is currently also on international duty with McGinn.

The two played against each other last weekend in the Premier League. Aston Villa thumped Liverpool 7-2 at Villa Park.

McGinn stated that Robertson has been “good” and “respectful” about the aforementioned result.

McGinn told Sky Sports News (06/10/20 at 8:35 am): “He [Robertson] was good and respectful. He understands. I think he has won every other game in the past three or four years so he can give us one.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We have accepted that Aston Villa completely outplayed Liverpool.

Going by McGinn’s comments regarding Robertson being “good” and “respectful” about last weekend’s game, it does sound like the left-back accepts the fact that Aston Villa outplayed Liverpool.

Robertson did have a poor game against Aston Villa. He finished the match with an overall player rating of 5.74.

It was the worst sort of defeat to cop just before the international break. The game was played on the 4th of October.

Liverpool’s next clash is not until the 17th of October. Jurgen Klopp and his side have a bit of time to think about the Aston Villa clash before they can put it right.
