Andy Robertson is a doubt to face Napoli, Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Monday, and will have his fitness tested before kickoff to determine his readiness.

“Robbo didn’t train today and we have to see,” Jürgen Klopp told on Monday.

“It is not a major thing, it was more precautionary today, but it is not 100 per cent sure [he will be available]. We will have to test it tomorrow and then we will see.”

The Scotsman is an integral part of the Liverpool side that won the European Cup last season and while the opening game of the group stages isn’t exactly the all defining tie, the Reds will be hoping to get a win in Naples to maintain their steady form this season and start defending their crown.

If Robbo does indeed miss the clash, Jurgen Klopp will be left with three options and each is less ideal than the previous one. Milner could be chosen, Gomez could be called upon or Yasser Larouci could be handed his professional debut.

Klopp is essentially left with selecting a 33-year-old midfielder, a centre back or an entirely inexperienced 18-year-old left-back to play against Lorenzo Insigne and Hirving Lozano.

Whichever route the German manager decides to take, fans should still have faith that Liverpool can leave Italy this evening with the three points.
