Allan Saint-Maximin trained for Newcastle United on Friday as the French attacker aims for a return to action following his hamstring injury.
The former Nice forward hasn’t exactly hit the ground running for the Magpies after a hamstring injury forced him off the pitch just 23 minutes into his Premier League debut against Arsenal.
Steve Bruce then rushed him back to face Tottenham which was a mistake as the 22-year-old was once again forced to leave the pitch due to injury this time after a mere 17 minutes.
While there is no guarantee that he will feature against Liverpool, it’s encouraging for Newcastle fans to hear that Saint-Maximin isn’t seriously injured and will soon return to action.
In a training gallery shared on their official website, Newcastle posted a few photos of their players training and Saint-Maximin can be spotted in a few of them which indicates that he will be in contention to face Liverpool.
Given that the Reds are unbeaten at Anfield since April 2017 and that they have won 13 consecutive league games, the odds are heavily in their favour.
Jurgen Klopp will be able to name a powerful starting lineup for tomorrow’s lunchtime kickoff.
