Reds midfielder Adam Lallana has stated that Liverpool need to stay grounded despite the fact they are at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool’s 1-0 victory away from home against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend has given the club a 14-point lead at the top of the table.
The Reds have only dropped points in one fixture this season, which was the 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford back in October.
However, despite Liverpool’s current form, Lallana has stated that his teammates need to stay grounded.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website, Lallana said: “It’s on us to keep grounded. We have such a great group of lads for that.
“We’ve come back in there and after the game we are speaking about how we could have seen it out better [in the game against Tottenham].
“I’m sure it was entertaining for the neutral but we don’t want to be winning games relying on our goalkeeper or seeing shots go past the post.
“It’s a great mentality that we have, we don’t want to settle for just winning games. That’s a big reason why we are in the position we are.”
Lallana is spot on. The Reds may be in a very strong position, but you only have to remind yourself of how good Manchester City are.
They have the ability to accumulate points in a hurry, meaning the title race is far from done. However, there is a sense that this Liverpool side is much stronger than any other side that has represented the club in recent times. They should get the job done.
Liverpool’s next assignment in the Premier League is Manchester United at Anfield come the weekend.
