Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo was loaned out to Millwall at the backend of August.
The 24-year-old made his first appearance for the club against West Bromwich Albion last weekend. The Championship clash finished in a 1-1 draw.
After the match had concluded, Millwall manager Gary Rowett spoke about Ojo’s impact on the game.
Rowett told News at Den the following: “When we got our goal I thought Sheyi Ojo and Jed looked a major, major threat on the counter-attack and we really should have scored another goal in that period, which I think would have given us a really good chance to win the game.”
Rowett added: “It was a tough game for Sheyi. If you look at the type of game it’s a tough one for him and Jed. It’s a game of second balls, a game of fighting. It’s one where you have to go and compete all the time and they are the type of players that if you can find them space, they will hurt most teams.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
WhoScored rated Ojo’s performance against West Bromwich Albion a 5.88/10, which does suggest that he did not play too well.
The winger has been on Liverpool’s books since 2011. However, Ojo has only made 13 appearances for the club’s first-team.
The 24-year-old has been loaned out seven times during his time at Anfield.
The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Diogo Jota are currently ahead of Ojo in the pecking order.
It is clear that youngster does not have a future at Liverpool. Hopefully the club can permanently sell Ojo next summer (when his loan deal expires).
Ojo’s current Liverpool contract expires in June 2023.
